Freeze dried and packaged preparedness foods

Preparedness is not just stuff

It always amazes me when people respond with “I am prepared because I have lot of things they think will save them.”

Be prepared is about much more than the physical things you have. And in a family, it’s never just about you being prepared. Let’s look a little closer at these two aspects.

First, let’s talk about the stuff. Great, you have stocked up on enough freeze dried food to live on for the next 50 years. And you have a ton of guns and ammo.

How long can you really eat the same meals before you get tired of it? I know I would struggle with any desire to eat if I was stuck in the same boat constantly. And I know I am not the only one. We recently had Ashley on a special restricted diet to help with a health challenge, and the number one thing she said was there was little desire to eat when you could only eat the same few things.

Weapons are no different. You can stockpile the most guns out of anyone on the block, but if you never take each and every one off the shelf to train with, it’s totally pointless. When it comes down to it, the extra minutes spent trying to remember how to load or sight the weapon will leave you exposed.

Now, for family. Everyone needs to be on board with preparedness. Everyone has a job in preparing. Yes, even your kids. It’s a group effort.

Without your family on board, no matter how much prep time you spend, someone is going to be lost.

Skills are not something you can easily teach on the fly. And if you are the only one who knows something, what happens when you get separated or worse, killed?

Preparedness is a way of life. It’s not preparing for a future that may never happen, instead it’s living in a way that when something does happen, you conveniently have the skills and tools in place to handle it without batting an eye.

Sitting down with your family and creating a fire escape plan may seem like a pointless waste. Yet should the worst happen, your family knows how to get out and where to meet.

Even simple things like a flashlight in every room moves you and your family to success in a power outage when someone runs over the power pole down the road. Panic no longer needed.

Preparedness comes from the small and simple things, building on one another to create success in times where everyone else is failing.
