Part of running a successful homestead is learning what’s important.
Life will inevitably tug us all in a million different directions at the same time. And something will always be critical. But just because it’s critical does not mean you need to drop everything.
This is a concept I have been really working on myself. With us having multiple businesses, five kids, various activities, and appointments, life can be instantly crazy. When one thing gets out of balance, it all starts to fall apart. Fast.
Some things will be fixed, never able to move. Others are easy to adjust and work around.
I have found the best way to handle the ever-changing crazy is to get it all out of my head. Each night I try to spend a couple of minutes writing down all the things I need to do the next day inside my planner. This clears my head for a good night’s rest.
The next morning, I review the tasks I have set, and my calendar. Each thing is given a time to be actioned. But here is the key: One task becomes my primary. This is the task that I am unwilling to miss or not get completed.
Everything else can be moved, put off if needed. Yet at the end of the day, I feel accomplished by completing that key task.
Ask yourself the following questions and start organizing your life without feeling stressed when something gets missed:
What is one key task the I must complete today to feel successful?
Am I willing to allow this interruption to cause a delay to my key task?
