Hopefully your family had a good and safe one. But there is more to being patriotic than lighting off a few fireworks once a year.
The key thing to remember is that the great freedom we enjoy is not free. And it’s not just the soldiers serving in our military to protect us either. It’s much bigger than that.
Being patriotic starts by standing up for what you believe in. If you are like most homesteaders, we enjoy the freedoms of our property and the right to live as we choose. But those freedoms mean nothing if we choose to always sit on the sidelines.
When we step up and vote it goes a long way towards preserving our freedoms. Yes, we will not always “win”. Sometimes the votes will go to the other guy or cause. Those ones we personally don’t feel are worthy. Yet if we sit back and do nothing, we guarantee our way of life will end or be controlled by someone else.
And freedom even goes beyond the voting booth. It comes from participating in the local community. Attending events, meeting people, forging friendships. And it comes by respecting one another. Taking care of the country by keeping it clean and healthy. Even when we don’t agree.
Your beliefs about a topic might not be 100% the same as mine. However, we still have common ground. Heck, for those that receive this, we are all homesteaders, preppers, and people who want learn. We may not always see eye to eye on everything. But that’s because we are not drones with a single hive mind.
So, as you begin down the path of the rest of this year, let’s not let the fireworks fade into our minds along with the freedoms they represent. Instead, let’s walk boldly together to create the future not only we want, but want our children to grow up in.
