Practical Skills for a Resilient Homestead

Uncertainty does not need to live in your home. We've spent years learning and teaching so you can gain the skills to break from fear. Your prepared homestead starts here, from the library to the storehouse.

Build your homestead on steady ground

We see it every time we walk through the store: rising costs, empty shelves, and the “out-of-stock” signs on the items our families rely on. But where the modern systems fails, our homesteads can thrive.

True resilience starts with reclaiming the skills that were once common sense. Those life skills our ancestors did daily. Whether it’s learning to cook from scratch, repairing what you already have, or spending more together time as a family, every small step toward self-sufficiency is a win for your home.

Someday is keeping you trapped in fear, so why not start today?

Resilience starts with the mind, not a place

You are here because you are worried about your family. The weight of what to learn can feel heavy, especially if you’re still stuck in the rental or apartment life.

But here is the honest truth: Homesteading isn’t defined by the size of your acreage; it’s defined by your skills and willingness to learn. You don’t need a sprawling farm to be self-reliant. Preparedness comes from small daily efforts, not your land alone.

Our mission is to teach you those key skills without breaking the bank. You can learn to create many of the items we provide by following our free articles and videos. Or you can take a shortcut and buy ready-made versions from our storehouse, learning as you go.

Survival begins with faith and a willingness to learn. We are here to help you do both.

Break out of the fear trap, step by step

The enemy is not the place you live or the neighbors around you. Instead, it’s fear. Knowledge is what separates the prepared from the fearful. And it is difficult to prepare for what you don’t yet understand.

The Field Notes discuss the events of today, lessons we learned that week, historical preparedness, and everything in between. Learning new skills is the beginning to readiness, and a strong family is the foundation. You don’t have to do this alone anymore.

Our Story

Life rarely goes as planned. We started with a standard suburban home and full-time jobs, but a layoff just one month into our marriage changed everything. It opened our eyes to a different path.

Since then, we’ve used Alex’s military background and Ashley’s homesteading experience to build businesses, left the city, and settled on a small homestead with our five children. The journey has been challenging and the stresses high, but the reward has been a life of purpose. Now, we’re sharing what we’ve learned about self-sufficiency to help you prepare for your own future. The best time to start is today.
